Undefeated Irish prospect Ian Garry will take part in UFC 276 during International Fight Week this year.
Welterweight Garry (9-0) will face Gabe Green (11-3) at the PPV event, in a bout that was confirmed by UFC officials over the weekend. News of the match-up had previously been reported by Iridium Sports Agency, who later deleted the announcement.
Iridium represent Green, who will enter the fight looking for a third straight victory inside the octagon. After dropping his promotional debut against Daniel “D-Rod” Rodriguez in in 2020, Green won his next two fights, capturing a decision against Phil Rowe then stopping Yohan Lainesse with strikes.
Ian Garry burst onto the UFC scene last year, stopping Jordan Williams, then followed that up with a decision win over Darian Weeks at UFC 273 this past March. But he may be best known for riffing on Conor McGregor in his post-fight speech following the Williams win, throwing out the old “we’re not here to take part, we’re here to take over” line that helped establish “The Notorious” as a star. “This is the takeover, part two,” Williams would go on to add.
