Outside of its main card Muay Thai match-up and a single kickboxing bout, ONE 158 on Friday was wall-to-wall MMA action. And much of it came in ONE Championship’s still developing heavyweight division.
A full three heavyweight fights featured on the card, not counting former UFC and Strikeforce talent Guto Inocente facing Rade Opacic in kickboxing. Rather, Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida was finally getting his third pro fight in MMA, against Simon Carson. Almeida had seen several fights fall through, including a highly anticipated showdown with the formidable Oumar “Reug Reug” Kane.
Hopefully, this one would stick.
Also in action, Odie Delany, looking to follow up a hammerlock submission in his last fight with another impressive performance. The undefeated heavyweight, 3-0 to start the night, was getting another step up in a fighter with twice his experience, Mehdi Barghi. The third heavyweight showdown featured Australian Duke Didier against the undefeated Zhasur Mirzamukhamedov, with both fighters making their promotional debut.
Talents like Kwon Won Il, Xie Wie, Julie Mezabarba, ex-flyweight champ Kairat Akhmetov and more were also in action.
ONE 158 gets underway at 5:30AM ET, live from Singapore. Full results can be found below; where available, a live stream of the action can also be viewed.
