UFC matchmakers no doubt had an easy time putting together the most recent addition to UFC Paris.
A women’s flyweight match-up between France’s own Manon Fiorot (9-1) and the #1-ranked Katlyn Chookagian (18-4) has been added to the promotion’s Paris debut on September 3, 2022. Cageside Press confirmed the booking following an initial report by Boxe Mag.
Fiorot and Chookagian both called for a fight between them to be made, with “Blonde Fighter” bringing up Fiorot’s name following her victory at UFC Vegas 54 earlier this month.
Chookagian has won four straight fights since being finished by Jessica Andrade in October of 2020. Having faced Valentina Shevchenko for gold at UFC 247, she’s been on the long road back to contendership — and has become a bondafide gatekeeper to the champ, with only Shevchenko above her.
If the surging Fiorot passes the test, she could find herself with her own title opportunity. “The Beast” has not lost since her professional debut, and has won all four of her UFC bouts to date. Most recently, she won a unanimous decision against former Invicta FC champ Jennifer Maia, who previously came up short against Shevchenko for UFC gold.
Fiorot is currently ranked #6 in the women’s 125 pound division.
The UFC Paris card on September 3, 2022 marks the promotion’s debut in France, which legalized MMA in 2020. Chookagian vs. Fiorot is the third fight reported for the Fight Night event, which consists of:
- Ciryl Gane vs. Tai Tuivasa
- Robert Whittaker vs. Marvin Vettori
- Katlyn Chookagian vs. Manon Fiorot
