Lightweight Terrance McKinney will look to rebound from the first loss of his UFC career when he faces Erick Gonzalez this August.
McKinney (12-4) will face Gonzalez (14-6) at the UFC’s August 6, 2022 Fight Night event. MMA Junkie was first to report news of the match-up, after both fighters announced they had fights scheduled on social media, without explicitly stating their opponent.
Suffering his first setback in the promotion in March, McKinney found himself finished in a wild fight with Drew Dober — a fight he stepped into on short notice. The loss snapped a five-fight win streak, which saw McKinney pick up wins in his first two fights in the promotion.
Win or lose, McKinney has never been to a decision in his 16-fight professional MMA career.
Gonzalez, a.k.a. “Ghost Pepper,” is a Combate alum who was last seen being knocked out by veteran Jim Miller. The California based fighter was supposed to return to action against Devonte Smith in March, but was forced out of the bout thanks to a foot injury.
The UFC’s August 6, 2022 Fight Night card does not have a venue, location, or broadcast plan announced, but is expected to be headlined by a light heavyweight match-up featuring Thiago Santos against Jamahal Hill. The following fights have been reported for the event:
- Thiago Santos vs. Jamahal Hill
- Miranda Granger vs. Cory McKenna
- Vicente Luque vs. Geoff Neal
- Terrance McKinney vs. Erick Gonzalez
