Nate Diaz is pissed off at the UFC, and he’s decided to show it as only a Diaz brother could.
On Thursday, the colorful fighter posted a photo of himself on social media; the snap shows him urinating on the UFC Performance Institute. Along with the image, he added a caption claiming he wouldn’t be cut over the incident.
“Taking a piss on the UFC PI. I could do this cause I get paid more than all [you] guys and they won’t cut me,” Diaz wrote.
It’s not clear when the image was taken. However, tensions have been mounting between Diaz and the promotion for months, as he has continually demanded a fight, only for nothing to come to fruition. Diaz previously expressed a desire to fight out his current contract and compete elsewhere, going so far as to tag Bellator MMA in a tweet ahead of their recent Hawaiian shows, suggesting he could fight there.
Of course, Diaz was and is under contract with the UFC, until they get a deal done on a fight. That doesn’t seem any closer to fruition. For months, Diaz had been circling a fight with Dustin Poirier, one that nearly came to fruition at UFC 272. When that didn’t happen, the promotion appeared to go back to the drawing board: a recent leak of potential match-ups from the UFC’s “war room” showed Diaz paired with Khamzat Chimaev.
Diaz at one point requested is outright release from the company.
It’s believed that the UFC is keen on getting Diaz to sign a contract extension, especially with the possibility of a highly lucrative third fight against Conor McGregor down the road. As for Diaz, well, he’s clearly pissed off over the time it has taken to get him his next, and possibly final, fight in the promotion.
