Two UFC strawweights will look to get back into the win column in August.
James Lynch was first to report the news that Miranda Granger will return from a two-year layoff against Cory McKenna on August 6, at a yet-to-be-announced UFC event. A source familiar with the situation confirmed the strawweight match-up to Cageside Press on Thursday.
Granger (7-2) has been out of action since her unanimous decision loss to Ashley Yoder at UFC Fight Night: Felder vs. dos Anjos in November of 2020. Prior to that, she was submitted by Amanda Lemos in South Korea. “Danger” handed Hannah Goldy her first professional loss in her UFC debut. The 30-year-old will most likely be fighting for her job in August.
McKenna (6-2) had her return to action spoiled in March when Elise Reed defeated her via split decision at UFC London. “Poppins” was on the sidelines with a broken ankle for all of 2021. McKenna was victorious in her UFC debut when she defeated Kay Hansen, and before that, she won a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series by defeating Vanessa Demopoulos.
The UFC’s August 6, 2022 event does not yet have an official location, venue, or broadcast plan announced. The only other fight that has been reported is the five-round main event between Jamahal Hill vs. Thiago Santos.
