The second UFC London card of 2022 appears to have a big fight in the works.
Earlier this month, middleweight Jack Hermansson teased a fight with Darren Till on social media. Now, it appears just such a match-up is being lined up. Hermansson confirmed the news on social media Friday, via his Instagram Story. Per a report by MMAnytt.se, verbal agreements are set for the bout.
Cageside Press confirmed the plan for the match-up with a source familiar with the situation on Saturday. The Fight Night event is expected to take place at the O2 Arena in London, England on July 23.
Till (18-4-1) appeared at the UFC London card in March to help promote the event, but has not fought since losing a decision to Derek Brunson last September. The Liverpool native is looking to snap a two-fight skid, with his last win coming in 2019 against Kelvin Gastelum.
Despite an iffy record of late, Till remains a massive star at home in England, with fans at a recent Q&A asking him when he’s due for a title shot. A win against Hermansson would at least be a first step.
Sweden’s Hermansson (22-7) will also be looking to rebound off a recent loss come July. “The Joker” dropped a split decision to Sean Strickland atop UFC Vegas 47 this past February. Hermansson is 2-2 in his last four fights, with wins over Kelvin Gastelum and Edmen Shahbazyan, and an additional loss to Marvin Vettori.
Two other bouts have been reported for the UFC’s July date in London, with the card currently shaping up as follows:
- Muhammad Mokaev vs. Charles Johnson
- Alexander Gustafsson vs. Nikita Krylov
- Darren Till vs. Jack Hermansson
