There was but one hiccup at the UFC Vegas 53 weigh-in on Friday morning in Las Vegas.
Unfortunately, that hiccup came in the main event bantamweight bout between Marlon “Chito” Vera and Rob Font. While Vera made weight early on in the weigh-in window, Font hit the scale about an hour later, coming in heavy at 138.5 pounds.
He did not continue cutting weight.
Other than that, it was an orderly affair. After the first ten minutes or so, only nine fighters remained to weigh in, and of that number, three were heavyweights — meaning they could stroll onto the scale effectively when they felt like it. Carlos Candelario would hit the scales last, but successfully made the flyweight limit.
With that, the full card was official; the main event moves forward at a catchweight, but the show must go on.
