A pair of middleweight prospects will collide at a UFC event this July.
Dana White Contender Series contract winners Caio Borralho and Armen Petrosyan will fight on July 9 at a yet-to-be-announced UFC event. Cageside Press was able to confirm the middleweight bout after it was added to UFCstats.com.
Borralho (11-1) didn’t have the picture-perfect UFC debut earlier this month, as his fight ended in a technical decision due to an accidental illegal knee. However, before the knee that ended the fight, Borralho looked phenomenal and really announced his presence. The Brazilian won a UFC contract by fighting twice on Dana White’s Contender Series and is riding a 10-fight win streak.
Petrosyan (7-1) was victorious in his UFC debut in February. He defeated Gregory Rodrigues via split decision at UFC Vegas 49. Like his upcoming opponent, Petrosyan competed in season five of Dana White’s Contender Series, where he knocked out Kaloyan Kolev.
The UFC’s July 9, 2022 event does not yet have a venue, location, or broadcast plan announced. So far, the reported fights are:
- Ronnie Lawrence vs. Saidyokub Kakhramonov
- Nina Nunes vs. Cynthia Calvillo
- Antonina Shevchenko vs. Cortney Casey
- Josh Fremd vs. Tresean Gore
- Said Nurmagomedov vs. Douglas Silva de Andrade
