Stepping in to replace Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos at UFC Vegas 51 was Contender Series alum Ange Loosa, paired up with deadly striker Mounir Lazzez.
The welterweight pairing kicked off the Fight Night event’s main card on Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Loosa fought well early attacking the leg kicks. Lazzez was doing a good job mixing it up and throwing feints on the way in. Lazzez was fighting long with the jab and landing his left to the body. Both guys traded shot for shot, with both having success. The range of Lazzez shined, as he kept doing well on the outside. Lazzez would shoot in for a takedown but Loosa defended.
Loosa got right back after in round two with leg kicks. He later had the leg of Lazzez, trying to get the takedown but Lazzez had good balance and he remained on his feet. Lazzez was actively pumping out the jab putting Loosa on the outside. Lazzez also landed more and more with the left hand to the body. Loosa was landing good leg kicks but Lazzez was as well, mixing it up a lot more. Lazzez shot in for a takedown in the final seconds but Loosa kept it upright.
In the final round Loosa was more aggressive early on landing to the head and body and throwing leg kicks. He tried to get the takedown but it didn’t happen. Both guys landed a right hand but neither was fazed. Loosa landed a beautiful combination and Lazzez responded with a few heavy leg kicks. A huge left hook from Loosa landed but Lazzez just pressed forward landing a combination. Lazzez was the last one that had the bigger moment landing a combination having Loosa backing up.
It was all Lazzez on the scorecards, as he gets back in the win column.
