Welterweights Vicente Luque and Belal Muhammad run it back at UFC Vegas 51 this weekend.
The pair first met in 2016, at UFC 205 in New York City. You remember that night, even if you don’t remember their fight. It was the night Conor McGregor captured a second title, knocking out Eddie Alvarez. Tyron Woodley and Stephen Thompson fought to a draw in a welterweight title fight, while Joanna Jedrzejczyk once again defended her strawweight crown.
Luque vs. Muhammad was an afterthought only because of what else was on the card. But the ending was explosive, with Luque earning a first-round KO.
Muhammad will be looking for a different outcome come Saturday, in a card that lacks dept outside the main event duo in terms of divisional relevance — but which will hopefully produce some exciting fights.
Weigh-ins for UFC Vegas 51 take place Friday morning in Las Vegas — check below for results.
All fighters made weight on Friday save for the last man to weigh in, Drakkar Klose — who missed the lightweight limit by less than a pound. Per Nevada rules, Klose was given an hour to cut the extra weight, and successfully made 156 when weighing in again. With that, the full card was official, with all fighters hitting the mark.
