Set to unfold at the the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Prior Lake, Minnesota on Friday, April 15, 2022 was LFA 129, featuring a heavyweight title fight atop the marquee.
The LFA heavyweight title was being contested between Waldo Cortes-Acosta and Thomas Petersen — who had won the belt in 2021. That late-July TKO of Vernon Lewis had improved Petersen’s record to 5-0, with all five of his wins coming by KO/TKO, and all five ending within a round.
Cortes-Acosta boasted an identical 5-0 record, but the 30-year old from the Dominican Republic had both left the first round, and gone the distance in the past. He also had ample experience in boxing, and a win over PFL alum Mo DeReese.
