Bellator MMA continues to add depth to its bantamweight roster.
With the promotion set to launch its bantamweight world grand prix later this month, Bellator is also building for the future, and has signed undefeated 135lb prospect Sarvadzhon Khamidov to an exclusive, multi-fight deal.
A source familiar with the signing informed Cageside Press of the deal on Wednesday. Terms of the contract were not disclosed, and no debut date or opponent has been set as of yet for Khamidov.
Hailing from Tajikistan, Sarvadzhon Khamidov has amassed a 13-0 record to date, after turning pro in 2016. Initially pulling double-duty as a featherweight, Khamidov has fought exclusively at 135lbs for his last four fights. Most recently, “Sarvar” picked up a pair of high-profile wins under the UAE Warriors banner, including a decision victory over Fabricio Sarraff at UAE Warriors 28 last month.
With strong chain wrestling and a deep gas tank, Khamidov will no doubt be a problem in Bellator’s bantamweight division. The Tajik fighter has gone the distance in six straight fights, after submitting three consecutive opponents and amassing five finishes in the early part of his career.
Khamidov previously landed on our Weekly MMA Prospect Report as an up-and-comer to watch.
Bellator MMA returns to action later this month, with Bellator 277 taking place at the SAP Center in San Jose, California on April 15, 2022. A featherweight title fight headlines, as A.J. McKee meets Patricio Pitbull in an immediate rematch less than a year after they closed out the Bellator featherweight grand prix.
