A strawweight title fight will headline Invicta FC 47 on May 11.
On Tuesday, promotion officials announced the full card for Invicta FC’s latest event via press release. Topping the show, which does not have a venue or location officially announced, will be strawweight champ Emily Ducote, putting her belt on the line against former atomweight champion Alesha Zappitella.
Zappitella (9-3, 1NC) will be returning to 115lbs for the first time since 2018 in the bout. In her last outing, she lost her atomweight title in a rematch with Jessica Delboni. The pair’s career series is tied at one win each.
Ducote (10-6) fought for the inaugural Bellator MMA women’s flyweight title in 2017, losing to promotional darling Ilima-Lei Macfarlane. She stuck with Bellator for a couple more fights, both loses, before returning to the regional scene in 2019, picking up a win, and joining Invicta FC that same year.
While she has won four of her last five fights, Ducote will be making her first title defense at Invicta FC 47. She captured the belt in style last year with a head kick finish of UFC vet Danielle Taylor that was in contention for Knockout of the Year.
