It was the heavyweight division’s turn to battle for a Professional Fighters League contract at PFL Challenger Series 6 on Friday — but one “heavyweight” was best known as a UFC middleweight.
That was Bevon Lewis, a two-time winner on Dana White’s Contender Series who went 1-3 in his run in the UFC. After exiting that promotion in November of 2020 off a loss to Trevin Giles, Lewis was competing for the first time in the main event of PFL Challenger Series 6 — against Brazil’s Marcelo Nunes.
The PFL Challenger Series 6 card had also been expected to feature heavyweight prospect Brett Martin, taking on Giacomo Lemos. But with Martin pulling out of the fight, it was Billy Swanson getting the call, and a shot at the PFL’s regular season.
Adam Keresh, an undefeated heavyweight prospect through four pro fights, three in Bellator MMA, was also in action, looking to maintain his unblemished record against Chad Johnson. Keresh was fighting for the first time since 2019.
PFL Challenger Series 6 was set to take place on Friday, March 25, 2022 at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. The card streams live on Fubo TV. Full results from the event can be found below.
