Las Vegas, NV – At just 24-years-old UFC bantamweight Song Yadong has the ideal youth for a fighter, but the experience of a veteran. Going into UFC Vegas 50 on Saturday night against Marlon Moraes at the UFC APEX that experience will prove to be valuable.
Song (18-6) is coming off a TKO win over Julio Arce in Nov 2021. For the bantamweight staple that win meant a step up in competition.
“After last fight, the good finish, that means I could fight with Marlon Moraes this time,” Song said through a translator at media day on Wednesday.
Song has remained pretty active recently fighting three times in 2021 which is something he aims to make a habit.
“My plan every year is for three fights and I’m also available to take more if I feel good.”
Kicking off 2022 with former World Series Of Fighting (Now Professional Fighters League) champion Marlon Moraes is a tall task, but one that Song believes he accomplish. Song spoke on his opponent.
“He’s a strong, tough fighter, and also very explosive with experience. Of course I still think he’s a very tough fighter no matter he lost the fight. I mean it’s just a lot for him, but I still see him as top fighter.”
Moraes is currently on a three-fight losing skid dropping his last three by TKO. Even with that trend Song isn’t planning to only stand and trade with Moraes.
“I would like to try all-around skills not only in striking but any skill that I’m trying to finish with him.”
With a win over Moraes, Song could find himself in a big fight leading to a title shot at some point this year. The bantamweight is in no hurry to put himself at the front of the line at 135-pounds just yet.
“Every fighter wants to be the best, but I’m not that hurry. I still still want to enjoy the process and enjoy my fight and make sure every fight I do it good.”
