Reinier de Ridder’s grappling and submission game was simply too much for Kiamrian Abbasov at ONE Championship’s Full Circle on Friday.
That much was clear just seconds into the fight, as double champ de Ridder put the challenger on his back almost immediately. It was a scene that would play out in the second, and abbreviated third rounds as well. Abbasov spent essentially the entire fight grounded, with Reinier de Ridder on top of him. After a close call at the end of the second, de Ridder finally secured an arm-triangle choke early in round three — forcing the tap from Abbasov.
With Vitaly Bigdash winning his trilogy bout against Aung La N Sang earlier in the night, there’s a potential date with the ex-champ down the line for Reinier de Ridder. But “The Dutch Night” called out grappling star Andre Galvao following the win — a fun match-up between submission aces.
