After losing out on a fight with Alex Perez at UFC 271 when his opponent missed weight — the latest instalment of an ongoing saga between himself and Perez — Matt Schnell has booked a fight on the UFC 274 card.
Schnell (15-5, 1NC) is set to face off with Bradon Royval (13-6) at the Pay-Per-View event, set to go down on May 7.
Iridium Sports Agency, who manage Royval, announced the news Thursday.
Royval will enter the bout off a split decision win over Rogerio Bontorin back in January, which snapped a two-fight skid for the flyweight standout. Overall, “Raw Dawg” is 3-2 inside the octagon, and is currently ranked #4 in the 125lb weight class.
Matt Schnell, meanwhile, finds himself ranked #9 in the division. “Danger” is 1-1, 1NC in his last three fights, most recently seeing a loss to Bontorin overturned to a No Contest when the Brazilian failed his drug test.
UFC 274 takes place on May 7, 2022, at a location and venue yet to be announced. Two title fights are expected to top the card, which currently shapes up as follows:
- Glover Teixeira (c) vs. Jiří Procházka – for the UFC light heavyweight championship
- Charles Oliveira (c) vs. Justin Gaethje – for the UFC lightweight championship
- Macy Chiasson vs. Norma Dumont
- Ariane Carnelossi vs. Lupita Godinez
- Blagoy Ivanov vs. Marcos Rogério de Lima
- C.J. Vergara vs. Kleydson Rodrigues
- Joe Lauzon vs. Donald Cerrone
- Journey Newson vs. Fernia Garcia
- Brandon Royval vs. Matt Schenll
