Saturday’s UFC Vegas 48 was a card that, on paper, seemed ready to lend itself to heavy criticism. Not exactly star-studded, with the biggest name outside main event duo Johnny Walker and Jamahal Hill being veteran Jim Miller.
And yet, in all fairness to the UFC’s matchmakers, not a few fights had undergone late changes. For one, the original UFC Vegas 48 main event had shifted to an entirely different card, with Rafael dos Anjos vs. Rafael Fiziev moving to March’s UFC 272, ostensibly due to visa issues on the part of Fiziev.
Then you had Julian Marquez dropping out of his fight with Kyle Daukaus, Austin Lingo withdrawing from his fight with Jonathan Pearce, and Khalid Taha out of his bout with Mario Bautista. What was left was a rag-tag bunch of newcomers, plus a couple of veterans including the retiring Chas Skelly, who would hopefully punch above their weight when Saturday night rolled around.
Weigh-ins for UFC Vegas 48 take place Friday in Las Vegas. Check below for results.
The only miss at the scales on Friday was Gabriel Benitez, as “Moggly” missed weight by two pounds. That’s his second time missing weight in under a year, as his May 2021 fight against Jonathan Pearce was cancelled after Benitez missed weight by four pounds.
