After a match-up between the two fell through late last year, Jessica Penne and Luana Pinheiro are once again set to throw down.
The strawweight pair will face off at the UFC’s April 30, 2022 Fight Night event. Youtube Channel Canal Do Marinho, founded by journalist Mario Filho, was first to report the news, with Pinheiro confirming the bout.
Penne (14-5) emerged from a lengthy battle with USADA in 2021, and wound up having an extremely successful year. The Ultimate Fighter 20 alum picked up two wins last year, earning a split decision against Loopy Godinez in April, then submitting former title challenger Karolina Kowalkiewicz at UFC 265 in August.
Penne had been expected to take on Luana Pinheiro (10-1) in November, but was forced out of the bout, and replaced by Sam Hughes. The Brazilian won a unanimous decision, marking her second victory inside the octagon. The first came in the Contender Series alum’s promotional debut, which ended in controversy due to an illegal upkick from Randa Markos.
The UFC’s April 30, 2022 event does not have a venue, location, or broadcast plan officially announced. Thus far, the following fights have been reported for the card:
- Gina Mazany vs. Shanna Young
