Phoenix, AZ – If being undefeated going into a fight is a weakness Bellator light heavyweight Sullivan Cauley begs to differ.
“I had an extensive amateur career. I had 25 fights between boxing, kickboxing and MMA. I’ve had losses, I’ve had tough fights, I’ve had 5-round fights. I’ve been there and done that. So I’m kind of ready for anything, I feel like,” Cauley told the media at Bellator 273 media day.
Cauley (2-0) enters the Bellator cage for his third professional bout in his adopted hometown against Ben ‘Big Tuna’ Parrish. Parrish (5-1) is a fan favorite in Bellator.
“I kind of like him too haha. People love a guy who doesn’t look like an athlete who can fight, which Ben can fight, to give him his due. I think he’s really game, I don’t think he’s the kind of guy that shrinks from a challenge. I don’t think he’s scared to fight. That being said I think it’s a good opponent for me. I think I’m better than Ben Parrish, and I think I’m going to show that.”
“He’s got a solid record and people’s attention, but I think I got him so I think it’s perfect.”
Cauley was a wrestler at Arizona State University which is located just minutes from where he will be fighting on Saturday night. When asked who the best fighter to come out of ASU was, Cauley has a quick answer, sort of.
“Bader. I mean, Cain had a great career. It’s tough to say. I’m biased Bader, Bader’s my guy. He’s a close friend of mine, my mentor. Cain at his peak was probably the best heavyweight ever, but Bader’s had such a fantastic career. Bader’s my guy.”
