Invicta FC 46 has been officially announced, and a flyweight title fight will top the March card.
On Wednesday, Invicta FC officials revealed via press release that Karina Rodriguez (9-4) will make the first defense of her flyweight title against Ketlen Souza (11-3) at Invicta FC 46. The event is expect to take place on March 9, 2022 in Kansas City, Kansas.
Rodriguez captured the then-vacant Invicta flyweight championship last May, when she defeated Daiana Torquato at Invicta FC on AXS TV: Rodríguez vs. Torquato. The win was just one bout removed from Rodriguez missing weight for an earlier title fight against Vanessa Porto, who both won the bout, then exited the promotion and signed on with Bellator MMA.
The win against Torquato saw Rodriguez become Invicta FC’s first Mexican-born champion. She has fought seven times for the organization, posting a 5-2 record since debuting for the company in 2017.
Rodriguez holds wins over UFC alumni DeAnna Bennett and Milana Dudieva, and previously competed against current UFC star Alexa Grasso.
Brazil’s Souza has won three straight, and is coming off a win under the SFT banner which saw her claim that promotion’s bantamweight championship. The 26-year old has competed as a strawweight, flyweight, and bantamweight over the past couple of years.
Also announced for Invicta FC 46 in Wednesday’s press release were the following bouts:
