LFA double champ Josh Silveira has his first PFL opponent on February 18.
Multiple sources, speaking on the condition of anonymity, have confirmed to Cageside Press that Silveira will fight Mohamed Juma in the main event on February 18 on the debut of The PFL Challenger Series.
The inaugural Challenger Series card was announced via press release on Wednesday, highlighting several fighters involved. Match-ups, however, have yet to be officially announced.
Silveira (7-0) had quite the year in 2021. He started his year off with two first-round submission wins over Matt Paul and Rafael Viana, only three months apart. His next victory would be a big one as he would claim the vacant LFA Light Heavyweight Championship when he knocked Tee Cummins out in 49 seconds with a nasty head kick. Finally, he ended his year by defeating Jared Revel at LFA 119, winning middleweight title to become the second-ever fighter to hold two belts.
Juma (8-2) went 2-1 in 2021, last fighting in the promotion UAE Warriors in a losing effort to Sofiane Boukichou. The South Sudan fighter will be making his North American debut. Juma has a 100% finishing rate.
No other fights have been announced or reported for the first PFL Challenger Series show; however, the other light heavyweights competing in the series are Alexander Poppeck (12-3), Taylor Johnson (7-3), Simeon Powell (4-0), Joao Paulo Fagundes (7-0), and Bruce Souto (14-3).
The inaugural PFL Challenger Series will be held at Universal Studios in Orlando, FL, beginning Friday, February 18, and airing exclusively on Fubo Sports Network at 9:00 p.m. EST
