Drakkar Klose has a new opponent for his return on April 16.
Klose (11-2-1) had been expected to face Nikolas Motta at the Fight Night event. However, with Motta instead being moved into a fight with Jim Miller next month, Klose will now take on Brandon Jenkins (15-8).
Jenkins confirmed the news on social media Monday, after an initial report by MMA Fighting.
Klose had a wild ride in 2021, and no part of it led to him actually getting to fight inside the octagon. In February of last year, Klose was scheduled to face Jai Herbert, only for Herbert to be replaced by Luis Pena. Then Klose was forced out of the fight, after one of his corners tested positive for COVID-19.
Next, the Michigan native was matched up with Jeremy Stephens in April. However, Stephens decided it would be a good idea to shove Klose during their face-off following weigh-ins, resulting in Klose suffering a spinal injury.
The bout was subsequently cancelled, though Klose was paid his show money. Hopefully, 2022 goes much smoother for Drakkar Klose.
Jenkins, meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back from a loss in his UFC debut to Zhu Rong. Prior to that fight, Jenkins had competed for the PFL, finishing UFC alum Jacob Kilburn with a flying knee.
