ONE Championship’s massive ONE X card, which was to celebrate their 10-year anniversary last month, has been shifted to March.
In a press release on Wednesday, promotion officials confirmed the move, while also announcing a star-studded trio atop the card. ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong initially announced the news on The MMA Hour.
In the main event of ONE X, women’s atomweight champion Angela Lee will return, taking on atomweight grand prix winner Stamp Fairtex. In the second title fight of the evening, flyweight champion Adriano Moraes will face Yuya Wakamatsu.
Finally, the much-anticipated mixed rules bout between Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson and Muay Thai legend Rodtang will be on the card. That match-up will see the competitors fight in both MMA and Muay Thai in separate rounds of the same fight.
For Lee (10-2), the event marks her first fight back since October of 2019, when she defended her belt against strawweight champ Xiong Jing Nan. Lee later took maternity leave, giving birth to daughter Ava in April 2021.
In her absence, Fairtex (8-1), who has also held gold in kickboxing and Muay Thai, ran the gauntlet in the atomweight grand prix, picking up wins over Alyona Rassohyna, Julie Mezabarba, and Indian wrestling powerhouse Ritu Phogat.
Moraes (19-3) pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the year when he defeated Demetrious Johnson last April. Moraes is a three-time ONE flyweight champion, who also won gold in Shooto Brazil prior to joining ONE Championship.
His opponent at ONE X, Yuya Wakamatsu (15-4), enters the bout on a five-fight win streak.
ONE X will mark the first ONE Championship event with a full house of fans since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. The event is set to take place on March 26, 2022.
