Alesha Zappitella vs. Jessica Delboni, Invicta FC 45

Who doesn’t love a good rivalry? Invicta FC atomweight champ Alesha Zappitella and challenger Jessica Delboni certainly have one brewing. The pair first met last year, with Zappitella defending her title against Delboni in May, winning a split decision.
Delboni then immediately jumped into the promotion’s single-night Phoenix Series atomweight tournament, winning all three contests to win both the tournament, and another shot at Zappitella.
With Invicta FC 45, the promotion’s first card of the year, arriving Wednesday, the rematch is ready to go. Should Delboni get the win, it almost certainly sets up a trilogy fight down the line.
Atomweight has been on the brink of breaking out for a few years now, so there’s more than just gold on the line here. UFC President Dana White has publicly mulled bringing in the weight class, so a strong rivalry could be enough to get a foot in the door for the 105lb division.
