A bout between hard-hitting Brazilian middleweights Bruno Silva and Alex Pereira is being targeted for a UFC event on March 12.
A fight between electrifying strikers Bruno Silva and Alex Pereira is being targeted for a UFC Fight Night on March 12. Combate was first to report the news.
Silva (22-6) enters the bout on a seven fight win-streak and is expected to hold his own in a firefight against the more decorated Pereira. “Blindado” notched wins over Jordan Wright, Andrew Sanchez, and Wellington Turman for a successful 3-0 in his freshman year in the UFC. Silva fought just under two weeks ago at UFC 269 where he took home a performance bonus for his knockout of Wright.
Pereira (4-1) is looking to build on his own successful UFC debut as he is set to make his second appearance in the Octagon. A former Glory Kickboxing champion, “Poatan” has been followed in his MMA career in particular due to owning a knockout victory over current UFC title holder Israel Adesanya. After appearances in Jungle Fight in his native Brazil and in LFA, Pereira made his UFC debut in November where he stopped Andreas Michailidis by second round knockout.
No location for the event has been announced. The event is expected to be headlined by a light heavyweight bout between former title challenger Thiago Santos and surging contender Magomed Ankalaev.
