A pair of hard-hitting middleweights will collide in February.
On Friday, HaySport Management announced that their client Armen Petrosyan will make his UFC debut against Gregory Rodrigues on February 26 at a yet-to-be-announced UFC event. A source close to the situation would subsequently confirm the middleweight booking to Cageside Press.
Rodrigues (11-3) had a terrific 2021, fighting four times and winning all four bouts. He started his year off by knocking Al Matavao out, and then two months later, he would knock out Josh Fremd to win the LFA middleweight title. “Robocop” would make his UFC debut a few weeks later on short notice and would defeat Dusko Todorović. He knocked out Jun Yong Park to win Fight of the Night in his most recent outing.
Petrosyan (6-1) won a UFC contract on season five of Dana White’s Contender Series. On week eight, he knocked out Kaloyan Kolev in the first round. The Armenian holds a 100% finish rate and is on a two-fight winning streak.
No location, venue, or broadcast plan has been officially announced for the February 26 event. Islam Makhachev and Beneil Dariush are expected to headline the show.
