Women’s flyweights Jessica Eye and Manon Fiorot are set to throw down as part of the UFC’s March 5, 2022 event.
Both Fiorot (8-1) and Eye (15-10, 1NC) confirmed the news on social media, following an initial report by MMA Junkie. The bout could serve as a changing of the guard moment of sorts in the women’s flyweight division, with Fiorot having won three straight, while ex-title challenger Eye has dropped three in row.
France’s Fiorot is yet to taste defeat in her UFC run. Through her first three outings, she’s defeated Victoria Leonardo, Tabatha Ricci, and Mayra Bueno Silva, all during the 2021 calendar year. Two of her three wins inside the octagon have come inside the distance.
Fiorot currently sits on an eight fight win streak, and has not lost a bout since the very first fight of her pro career.
Eye finds herself in very different, dire straits. She has just a single win since challenging Valentina Shevchenko for the women’s flyweight title, and has lost three straight to Cynthia Calvillo, Joanne Wood, and Jennifer Maia — going the distance in all three but losing unanimous decisions in each.
The UFC’s March 5, 2022 event does not yet have an official location, venue, or broadcast plan announced. The following fights have been reported for the card to date:
Bryce Mitchell vs. Edson Barboza
Manon Fiorot vs. Jessica Eye
