The final card of 2021 for Bellator MMA was set to go down Friday. Topped by a bantamweight title fight, Bellator 272 had plenty of interesting pairings, but none more so than the championship bout between Sergio Pettis and Kyoji Horiguchi.
On the surface, Pettis vs. Horiguchi was simply two of the best 135lb fighters on the planet throwing down. But it was also a champ vs. champ fight of sorts, with Pettis himself acknowledging that Horiguchi had never lost the Bellator bantamweight title — but instead relinquished it due to injury.
Now, the Japanese fighter was back, looking to reclaim gold, while Pettis hoped to make his first title defense — and prove himself the true champion in the process.
Check below come Thursday for full weigh-in results as all fighters hit the scales in Uncasville, CT ahead of Friday’s card. A ceremonial weigh-in will commence starting at 12:55PM ET.
