Kyle Crutchmer (7-1) got back in the win column last time out, defeating Levan Chokheli. At Bellator 272, he’ll look to build on that and try to break into the top 10 of the promotion’s welterweight division.
Speaking about his last bout at this week’s Bellator 272 media day, the teammate of Daniel Cormier admitted that “I didn’t really think anything about who I would be going with next or anything like that. I didn’t think anything about a ranking.”
However, he added that “I’m blessed with the opportunity and I’m grateful that Bellator has given me this opportunity. I’m going to be honest, I didn’t know anything about Oliver Enkamp. When I heard his name, I did my research, and I think this is a good fight for me to break into the top ten and really get my career going in the right direction.”
Crutchmer views his match-up with the former UFC fighter as “basic striker versus grappler. I know he has some submission wins, but he didn’t really submit guys that aren’t getting submitted. I’m not a guy that he’s going to be able to just grab my neck and roll me over. I’ve been grappling my whole life, and I grapple with some very, very, very high-level grapplers in the AKA gym.”
Overall, he believes Enkamp is “very well rounded. He’s been doing this a long time. There’s no disrespect towards this guy at all, I don’t really know him, he hasn’t said anything bad about me, so I’m looking forward to going in there and getting in a fist fight with this dude.”
Kyle Crutchmer takes on Oliver Enkamp at Bellator 272 this Friday, December 3 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT. More coverage of the card can be found below.
