Welterweight Mickey Gall will look for his second win of 2021 when he meets Alex Morono later this year.
Gall (7-3) and Morono (20-7, 1NC) are set to face off on the UFC’s December 4, 2021 Fight Night card. MMA Junkie was first to report news of the booking. Gall, who had previously teased that fight news was coming, later confirmed the date on social media.
In his last outing, New Jersey’s Gall picked up a rear-naked choke submission victory over Dana White’s Contender Series alum Jordan Williams. Gall has been trading wins and losses since 2017, after starting his UFC career by winning his first two fights — over pro wrestler CM Punk and then-hot prospect Sage Northcutt.
Morono has won his last two fights. A unanimous decision against David Zawada was the end result last time out, but it was the fight before that, against Donald Cerrone, that saw Morono really hit the radar. Morono finished “Cowboy” via TKO in the opening round, winning a Performance of the Night bonus in the process this past May.
The UFC’s December 4 Fight Night event is numerically UFC on ESPN 31, and will be headlined by a pivotal bantamweight fight between former featherweight champ Jose Aldo, and Rob Font.
