Following a dominant, and quick, win over Sinead Kavanagh at Bellator 271, women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg was in no mood to share her “shine” with free agent Kayla Harrison.
The two-time PFL world champ was in attendance in Hollywood, FL on Friday night. Harrison, also a two-time Olympic gold medal winner in judo, is the biggest name on the market at the moment. Cyborg had stayed mum on Harrison all week ahead of her title fight with Kavanagh, and wasn’t exactly forthcoming on the subject following the win.
“If she really wants to fight me, she knows where I’m at, and Ali [Abdelaziz, Harrison’s manager] can negotiate with Scott Coker, can make the fight happen,” Coker told media outlets following her victory.
“I have nothing to say, I’m not going to share my shine today,” she stated. “But you know I’m here ready if anyone wants to fight me, for sure.”
The Brazilian veteran later thanked Harrison for attending the show, however, adding “she’s coming to my house, I hope she liked it.”
Part of Cyborg’s refusal to talk about Harrison is the champ’s belief that Kayla simply isn’t going anywhere. “Because if she really wants to fight me, she can sign to Bellator and we’ll fight. You’re going to talk about the back-and-forth, back-and forth? I don’t think she’s going to get out of the PFL, I think she’s going to continue with the PFL, this is just part of the game.”
Asked who she would prefer to face next, Cat Zingano or Harrison, Cyborg replied simply that “I’ll let Scott Coker do his job.”
