Brazilian bantamweight prospect Ricardo Dias was set for a real test on Friday night atop the LFA 117 card.
Dias, winner of three straight, was paired up with UFC veteran Michinori Tanaka in the Visalia, California based card. Tanaka had competed for the Ultimate Fighting Championship from 2014 to 2017, posting a record of 2-3 during that span. Since his exit from the company, he’d won two straight, but hadn’t competed (in mixed martial arts, at least) since 2019.
Which would make cage rust a question Friday, though Tanaka had taken part in a grappling match on the Road to ONE 2 card in April 2020.
For Dias, a win over a UFC veteran might bring about a call-up to the UFC itself. And even if not, it would no doubt lead to bigger and better things under the LFA banner.
LFA 117 takes place Friday, November 5 at the Visalia Convention Center in Visalia, California. The main card kicks off at 10PM ET, airing live on UFC Fight Pass. Full results can be found below.
