The UFC Light Heavyweight division has been one of the most illustrious weight classes throughout the history of the company. For some time, the world thought the division would not last without Jon Jones being a staple, but boy, were those critics wrong. Since his departure, we’ve seen the emergence of Jan Blachowicz, and been treated to fights like Jan Blachowicz vs. Glover Teixeira. These two men had to claw tooth-and-nail to get to this spot, showing the world you don’t need to trash talk your way to a title shot— sometimes all you need is hard work and the belief in yourself to be the elite of the elite in the UFC.

Ageless wonder Glover Teixeira put together a remarkable resume to enter the octagon at UFC 267 and attempt to wrap a UFC championship around his waist. A win over Jan Blachowicz at UFC 267 would be a culmination of all his years of hard work.

Jan Blachowicz has shone bright as the king of the light heavyweights, with his back up against the wall every fight. His past within the UFC is a constant reminder of where he was to where he is now. The “Polish Power” has rejuvenated his career within the UFC and now takes on anyone coming for his belt. Jan knew the danger Glover presented, but as champion, he had no fear heading into UFC 267.

He learned to fear Teixeira’s ground game Saturday however. It has taken Glover Teixeira many fights – some wins, some losses – and a late career return to form, but at the age of 42, Glover finally has captured UFC gold and now becomes the second oldest champion in UFC history. Doing so with a dominant performance that saw him submit the reigning champ.
