Proven lightweight finishers collided early on the UFC Vegas 41 card on Saturday, with Khama Worthy taking on Jai Herbert.
With nine KO/TKOs and three submissions, Worthy had burst on the UFC scene in 2019, winning his first two fights. His last two, however, saw “The Deathstar” himself stopped on both occasions.
Herbert, meanwhile, was 0-2 in his UFC run and looking for that elusive first octagon win.
The fight promised a finish, and it brought one early.
Both fighters took the center of the octagon after a touch of the gloves. Worthy started with a couple of leg kicks and Herbert threw out some jabs to check the distance. A left high kick from Herbert was blocked by Worthy. Herbert landed a beautiful body kick two minutes into the round. Worthy then landed a short right hand and a calf kick that got Herbert’s attention.
The finish came soon after. Herbert landed a punch that wobbled Worthy. Herbert rushed Worthy and unloaded a wild combo that dropped him and then he pounced on him to finish the fight.

Herbert picked up his first long-awaited UFC win, and very likely saved his job. Worthy has now been knocked out in his last three fights and will probably be back to the regional scene to regroup.
