The UFC was back at the Apex in Las Vegas on Saturday, and thanks to some weight management issues on the part of Paulo Costa, the main event had become very interesting.
Costa was paired up with Italy’s Marvin Vettori, with both men coming off title fight losses to champ Israel Adesanya. During Fight Week, Costa announced he was heavy for the 185lb scrap, walking around at 211lbs. That led to a catchweight being agreed to, which lasted less than a day.
Shortly after the 195lb catchweight was announced, it was revealed that the fight had been moved wholesale to a light heavyweight contest. Would that give Costa the edge? Well, he certainly appeared to be the bigger man on fight night.
In the co-main event on Saturday, Grant Dawson looked to remain undefeated inside the UFC octagon. And he did — but win he did not. Instead, Dawson went the distance with Ricky Glenn, and thanks to a strong third round from Glenn, the fight was ruled a majority draw.
