Once again, the women’s bantamweight bout between Aspen Ladd and Macy Chiasson has fallen through.
This time out, the cancellation comes following a scary scene at the UFC Vegas 38 weigh-in on Friday. While TUF 28 winner Chiasson hit the scales without issue, Ladd, who weighed in last, struggled to stay upright.
The fighter, who has experienced weight mishaps and fight cancellations in the past, initially weighed in with her clothes on, coming in around 141lbs for the bantamweight bout. Stripping down behind a barrier, Ladd then struggled to maintain her balance, and could not hold her arms upright when required by the commission.
Eventually, a very shaky Ladd did weigh in, with the scale reading 137lbs. However, after nearly falling over, it soon became apparent that the fight was in jeopardy. Not surprisingly, the pair did not face off following weigh-ins.

UFC officials announced at the end of face-offs that the bout between Ladd and Chiasson had been cancelled as a result of Ladd missing weight.
Two other fighters also missed weight on Friday, by a wider margin. Bethe Correia and Mike Breeden both missed the mark by 2.5lbs, but their fights remain on the card.
Ladd has struggled to make the bantamweight limit in the UFC repeatedly. In 2018, weight struggles led to the cancellation of her fight with Leslie Smith at UFC Atlantic City. Notoriously, Smith later had her contract paid out by the UFC, and was released from the promotion. In 2019, Ladd appeared shaky at weigh-ins for her fight with Germaine de Randamie; the California State Athletic Commission subsequently suspended her license after she regained 18% of her body weight between weigh-ins and the following night’s fight.
Ladd also missed weight for a 2016 bout with Jessica Hoy under the Invicta FC banner.
The fight with Macy Chiasson was originally scheduled for this past July, only for a stress fracture in her foot to force Chiasson from the card.
