A pair of UFC middleweights will collide in December.
MMA Island was first to report the news that Anthony Hernandez will fight Dustin Stoltzfus on December 18 at a yet-to-be-announced UFC event. Both fighters would confirm the booking on social media.
Hernandez (7-2) is coming off a terrific upset win. In February, he weathered the storm against four-time Brazilian Jiu Jitsu world champion Rodolfo Vieira and pulled the massive upset by submitting him in the second round. That win will be on many end-of-the-year lists. Before his stunning submission, he lost to Kevin Holland at UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Harris last May. “Fluffy” was scheduled to fight Punahele Soriano in June, but an injury forced Hernandez to withdraw.
Stoltzfus (13-3) is looking for his first UFC win and could be fighting for his job in December. After securing a UFC contract on season four of Dana White’s Contender Series by defeating Joseph Pyfer, Stolzfus has gone 0-2. He lost his octagon debut against Kyle Dauakaus via unanimous decision and was submitted by Vieira in his most recent outing.
No location, venue, or broadcast plan has been officially announced for the December 18 event, but UFC President Dana White said that all Fight Nights would be staying at the Apex in Las Vegas, NV.
The December 18 card only has two other fights scheduled thus far.
- Amanda Lemos vs. Nina Ansaroff
- Anthony Hernandez vs. Dustin Stoltzfus
- Don’Tale Mayes vs. Josh Parisian
