Ex-KSW champ Dricus Du Plessis will return to the octagon at UFC 269 this December.
South African standout Du Plessis (16-2), a former welterweight champ in the aforementioned Polish promotion, will be facing Andre Muniz (21-4) at the PPV card. ESPN was first to report news of the booking.
Du Plessis made his promotional debut last October, knocking out Markus Perez. He would not return to action until July of this year, earning another big stoppage win over Trevin Giles. The Giles victory earned “Stillknocks” his first Performance of the Night bonus.
In addition to his KSW title, Du Plessis also held middleweight gold in South African promotion EFC.
Brazil’s Muniz has won all three of his fights since joining the Ultimate Fighting Championship in 2019, following back-to-back wins on Dana White’s Contender Series. He was last seen at UFC 262, where he broke the legendary Jacare Souza’s arm with a nasty arm-bar submission.
UFC 269 is set to take place on December 11, 2021. No location or venue has been officially announced for the event, which is expected to be the organization’s final PPV of the year. A lightweight title fight between champ Charles Oliveira and Dustin Poirier is being targeted to headline. The following fights have been reported to date:
