Denice Zamboanga vs. Seo Hee Ham

Seo Hee Ham should need no introduction to MMA fans. A former UFC athlete, ROAD FC champion, and RIZIN champion, Ham (23-8) has fought all over during a career that kicked off back in 2007.

Ham last competed in December 2019, when she claimed the RIZIN super atomweight championship. With Japan’s restrictions on foreigners entering the country during the coronavirus pandemic, she signed on with ONE, and will be making her debut at Empower this Friday.

Ham has the most experience among the quarterfinal fighters in ONE’s women’s atomweight world grand prix. In fact she has more experience than anyone in the tournament save for alternate Mei Yamaguchi, who she defeated a decade ago in Jewels. As well as Yamaguchi, Ham holds a win over Alyona Rassohyna, and also has notable victories against Ayaka Hamasaki, Cortney Casey, Miyuu Yamamoto, and Jinh Yu Frey.

Ham’s experience should be a tough test for prospect Denice Zamboanga. The Filipino fighter is a perfect 8-0 in her career thus far, and passed an earlier test against Yamaguchi. Her record boasts three submission wins via three different methods, so the blue belt has clearly found some success on the ground. She’s no slouch on the feet either, with a couple of TKO wins, but Ham is the odds-on favorite to win this one given her quality of competition.
