Pat Sabatini was knocked down quickly at UFC Vegas 35, but turned the bad situation into a submission victory over Jamall Emmers.
Former CFFC featherweight champ Pat Sabatini was looking for his second win inside the octagon at UFC Vegas 35 on Saturday.
Sabatini’s debut had gone according to plan, as he picking up a unanimous decision victory against Tristan Connelly back in April. On Saturday, he had another tough out opposite him in Jamall Emmers, himself 1-1 in the promotion to date.
Emmers was going strictly with his kicks to start the fight, but one landed a bit too low. After the pause in action, Emmers got right back to work, stunning Sabatini with a hook, then knocking him down with an uppercut. Emmers jumped right into mount. Sabatini rolled quickly and got out of mount, grabbing a heel hook. Instead of escaping the submission, Emmers tried to counter with a toe hold. Sabatini made his adjustments, torqued the leg and forced Emmers to tap.

Emmers was unable to stand after the fight as the heel hook likely caused a major injury to his knee. Sabatini promised to show more of his game next time out as he was disappointed in what went down in the quick victory.
