A pair of top 15 bantamweights will collide in November — including former UFC lightweight champ Frankie Edgar.
ESPN was first to report the news that No. 8 ranked bantamweight Edgar will fight No. 13 Marlon Vera on November 6 at UFC 268, which will be the UFC’s return to New York. Karamu Usman and Colby Covington will headline the event. Both fighters would confirm the booking on their social media.
Edgar (24-9-1) is coming off the third knockout loss of his career. In February, he faced Cory Sandhagen in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Volkov and was knocked unconscious with a flying knee. Before that, he got back in the win column when he defeated Pedro Munhoz in a controversial split decision.
Vera (17-7-1) exacted his revenge and got back into the win column recently when he defeated Davey Grant via unanimous decision. He was awarded Fight of the Night. “Chito” went 1-2 in 2020, with his big win coming over Sean O’Malley when he finished him via TKO.
UFC 268 is being targeted for Madison Square Garden, although there haven’t been any official announcements from the promotion yet.
So far, the second to last pay-per-view of the year looks like this.
