Kayla Harrison earned another first round stoppage at the PFL Playoffs 2 card, ending Genah Fabian’s night in the opening round of their women’s lightweight semifinal.
The win secures her a spot in her second straight PFL final, opposite the little known Taylor Guardado. And while Harrison (11-0) said all the right things following the fight, insisting that her focus was on Guardado, there is ample reason to believe that bigger challenges should be coming soon.
Amanda Nunes. Claressa Shields. And Cris Cyborg? The Bellator champ teased a move to lightweight following Harrison’s TKO of Fabian.

During the PFL Playoffs 2 post-fight press conference, Harrison laughed off Cyborg’s comment. “We know she can make 155lbs. Congratulations. Do you want a participation trophy? You can make it, but you can’t beat me,” Harrison exclaimed.
While she’s not ready for any serious talk about what comes after the PFL’s 2021 post-season, Harrison did state that when it comes to motivation, it’s about more than collecting titles.
“I think the older you get, the more you learn that gold objects aren’t really the motivation. It’s not about the shiny gold belt, it’s not about the shiny gold medal, it’s really all about the journey,” said Harrison. The two-time Olympic gold medallist went on to add that where she’s been along the way, the people she has met, and obstacles she has overcome and persevered through have “all led to beautiful moments for me. The highest of highs, and the lowest of lows, and they’ve made me who I am today. And I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. So that’s what motivates me: to continue to live life to the absolute fullest. Live each day as if it’s my last.”
