A lightweight rematch will take place inside the octagon this October.
Combate was the first to report the news that Mason Jones and Alan Patrick will rematch on October 23 at a yet-to-be-announced UFC event. Both fighters would confirm the booking on social media.
The pair’s first fight ended when Jones inadvertently poked Patrick in the eye, resulting in Patrick being unable to continue.
Jones (10-1) had his UFC debut spoiled by Mike Davis at UFC Fight Night: Chiesa vs. Magny on ‘Fight Island’ in January. He would lose a unanimous decision but be awarded ‘Fight of the Night.’ Before his loss, “The Dragon” was undefeated and a former two-division champion for Cage Warriors, a feat that only Conor McGregor and Dan Hardy had managed before him.
Patrick (15-3) is on the first losing streak of his 13-year career. The Brazilian known as “Nuguette” returned from a two-year layoff in 2020 and lost a dominant unanimous decision to Bobby Green. Before his loss to Green, he had a three-fight winning streak snapped when Scott Holtzman finished him at UFC 229 in 2018.
No location, venue, or broadcast plan has been announced for the October 23 event, but UFC President Dana White said that all Fight Nights will be staying at the Apex in Las Vegas, NV.
The October 23 fight card now includes the following reported bouts:
- Paulo Costa vs. Marvin Vettori
- Jessica-Rose Clark vs. Joselyne Edwards
- Randa Markos vs. Lívia Renata Souza
- Jeff Molina vs. Daniel Lacerda
- Gregory Rodrigues vs. Jun Yong Park
- Mason Jones vs. Alan Patrick II
