A pair of UFC middleweight prospects will collide in October.
Multiple sources, speaking on the condition of anonymity, have confirmed to Cageside Press that Gregory Rodrigues will fight Jun Yong Park on October 23 at a yet-to-be-announced UFC event. Paulo Costa and Marvin Vettori are expected to headline the card.
Rodrigues (10-3) burst onto the UFC scene by defeating fellow hot prospect Dusko Todorović via unanimous decision. “Robocop” made his octagon debut on short notice, having won the LFA Middleweight title only two weeks prior by knocking out Josh Fremd. Rodrigues is riding a three-fight win streak since losing on season four of Dana White’s Contender Series.
Since losing his promotional debut to Anthony Hernandez, Park (13-4) is also riding a three-fight winning streak. In his only fight in 2020, he defeated John Phillips in a very lopsided decision, which saw him land the most ground strikes in a three-round fight in UFC history. In his most recent win, he defeated Tafon Nchukwi, giving him his first professional loss.
No location, venue, or broadcast plan has been announced for the October 23 event, but UFC President Dana White said that all Fight Nights will be staying at the Apex in Las Vegas, NV.
The October 23 fight card now includes the following reported bouts:
- Paulo Costa vs. Marvin Vettori
- Jessica-Rose Clark vs. Joselyne Edwards
- Randa Markos vs. Lívia Renata Souza
- Jeff Molina vs. Daniel Lacerda
- Gregory Rodrigues vs. Jun Yong Park
