Just two days out from the fight, UFC Vegas 32 has lost its co-main event.
Late Thursday, UFC officials announced that Aspen Ladd vs. Macy Chiasson was off the ESPN card due to an undisclosed injury.
“Due to injury, the bantamweight bout between Aspen Ladd and Macy Chiasson is canceled from this weekend’s card,” a brief statement to the UFC’s official website declared.
Ladd and Chiasson had both appeared at Wednesday’s media day to promote the event. Additional reporting by MMA Junkie revealed that it was Chiasson who had suffered the injury.
Ladd (9-1) was returning to the octagon for the first time in over a year, due to her own injury issues. Considered a bright prospect in the women’s bantamweight division, Ladd had bounced back from the first loss of her career, against Germaine de Randamie, in her last fight. That saw her score a third-round TKO finish on Yana Kunitskaya.
TUF 28 winner Macy Chiasson sits at 5-1 inside the octagon, including her Ultimate Fighter finale win. She had been looking to build on a two-fight win streak.
With no word on the nature of the injury sustained by Chiasson, it’s unclear as to whether the UFC will be able to rebook the match-up.
UFC Vegas 32 takes place Saturday, July 17 at the Apex in Las Vegas, and is headlined by bantamweights Cory Sandhagen and TJ Dillashaw.
