After earning a victory in her short-notice debut earlier this year, Invicta FC alumnus Montserrat Ruiz was looking for a second win inside the octagon when she took on Brazil’s Amanda Lemos on Saturday.
The strawweight affair saw Lemos looking for her fourth consecutive victory since dropping to the 115lb weight class. Ruiz, a.k.a. “Conejo,” hoped to find her third straight, counting back to her Invicta stint.
Lemos opened with a kick, as Ruiz pushed forward — right into a head kick, which she shook off. She did not shake off a left hand to the jaw, going face down and rolling on the canvas. Lemos moved in for a follow-up strike, and the ref moved in to wave off the fight — much to Ruiz’s annoyance, as she was already back to her feet and defending.

The stoppage will likely be debated, as Ruiz appeared ready to continue fighting. But Lemos absolutely cracked the Mexican fighter with some heavy shots. The win will go down as the second fastest in the history of the UFC’s women’s strawweight division.
Following the win, Lemos called for a fight in October on Fight Island. Regardless of the validity of the stoppage, she’s going to be a problem in the 115lb weight class moving forward.
Official Result: Amanda Lemos def. Montserrat Ruiz by knockout, Round 1, 0:35
