Trailing in the wake of Poirier vs. McGregor 3, which proved to be another massively successful Conor McGregor card for the UFC (1.8 million buys, reportedly), UFC Vegas 31 felt like an afterthought. But look a little closer, and there were some solid match-ups, including the main event between Islam Makhachev and Thiago Moises, the return of former women’s bantamweight champ Miesha Tate (against a retiring Marion Reneau), and appearances by Jeremy Stephens, Billy Quarantillo, and Daniel Rodriguez.
Not too shabby for a little Fight Night event, airing on ESPN proper on Saturday.
With Makhachev and Moises, the UFC appeared to be testing the waters for a new star at lightweight. With Khabib retired, Islam Makhachev was the heir-apparent to “The Eagle’s” throne. Moises, meanwhile, looked to become the first Contender Series alum to win a main event in the UFC.
Check below Friday morning for full results from the UFC Vegas 31 official weigh-in.
There were no misses at the scale Friday, as the full UFC Vegas 31 card made weight.
