Uncasville, CT — Undefeated Bellator featherweight Cody Law returns this Friday at Bellator 262, looking to improve to 4-0 against Theodore Macuka.
Law has spent the entirety of his pro career fighting at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, thanks in part to the coronavirus pandemic. At just 26, Law, a stand-out wrestler in college, has essentially been growing on the job in Bellator.
“Yeah I’m happy to be here, man. I don’t really know what to say about it,” Law told Cageside Press during Wednesday’s Bellator 262 media day. “I’m just looking to keep growing, keep getting fights, keep busting them out. Five fights a year, before you know it, I’ll be 15-0 in Bellator.”
Bellator loves to build up home-grown talents, and Cody Law is certainly one of them. With undefeated Bellator original A.J. McKee going up against Patricio Pitbull soon for the promotion’s featherweight title, Law envisions a scenario where the two collide some day.
“I would love to have that match-up,” exclaimed Law. “If he wins and we’re both undefeated with really good records, that might be the biggest fight in Bellator history.”
Ahead of his return this Friday, Law has continued to work with a top gym in American Top Team.
“It’s been a great camp. I’m kind of always training, so I got back to ATT before I even had a fight announced, and was just training, training, training,” he explained. “I was in camp, and they gave me this fight, I just kept rolling. I feel great, my weight’s really good, I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been in.”
ATT is known for some of the biggest names in the sport, and they’ve found considerable sucess in Bellator. Asked just what the secret is, what’s in the water, Law replied that “hard work’s in the water out there. I love having a bunch of guys on the card from the team.” Law’s debut was similar, with fighters like Johnny Eblen and Dalton Rosa fighting as well, and Dustin Poirier cornering. “We have a similar thing this time around, and I love it. It’s exciting. The second and third fight, I didn’t have any teammates with me, so it was a little bit dull.”
